5/23/2010 Team Email - California State Regional Qualifier

Guys, as discussed at yesterday’s practice and briefly at our team practice Friday. I am strongly considering putting a team in the California state games regional qualifier(June 5-6). Originally I was considering putting us in the jv division, but quite simply it would not be fair to Casey, who has worked very hard and deserves the chance to play in a quality event. So, even though our chances of qualifying for state championships(June 9-11) will be slim, I will look to add a few players to help us obtain our goal.

Secondly, and most importantly. Those in 7th period PE that desire to play in the regional qualifier for cal state games must get clearance from Mr Moore as it conflicts with the Scibca tournament. Not sure if the school can get their money back. The fact that the new head coach for basketball may not even be in place by then, may give some of you the necessary freedom to make a solid choice. If we are fortunate enough to qualify for the state games, that would be a huge step not only for the players involved but for Hoop's Dojo and what I plan for the program to become.

Thirdly, you guys have known about the regional for almost 10 days now, so you should have informed your parents by now if you want to be considered. The maximum roster allowed is 14 players. As mentioned I will have to try and add a few players so we have a chance of being competitive and to qualify. This may or may not require us to ad a day for team practice or simply go a little longer on Fridays so we can get add on's up to speed. This is probably the single largest youth basketball event in the state, so I do want to try and qualify to make it to the state championships. I will only take players that I feel will get court time. The minutes won't be just given like I do for leagues and other games thus far. I won't make that guarantee to anybody, it would not be fair. But, any minutes some of you get will better prepare us for next year and also more importantly if we do become a true AAU organization.
Lastly, Illouise by Wednesday I want a list of our current players that want to be given consideration to participate in the California State Games. By being on the list, it means they have discussed both sets of dates with their parents, and have also gotten clearance from Mr. Moore for both dates. I will then quickly select who will be going, so that those not selected may still participate in the Scibca event. All of you please respond promptly as there is much planning and paperwork to consider, print, distribute, and return within deadlines.

sincerely, Coach Charlie
